Weekly Photo Challenge: Details

I saw this large tusk in a shop window in Hong Kong… it was massive. I had to take the photo at an odd angle to fit in all in. When you got closer and looked you could see all the detailed carvings of animals. There must have been hundreds of the intricate carvings along this tusk.

The amount of detail was lost until you took a minute to look closer.

Up close all the animals appeared!

Thanks to word press for this week’s theme. Check out their web page here to join in or see other examples. This week’s theme comes from a guest poster, a fellow Canadian, who is the featured photographer. His photograph was this week’s inspiration for the theme.

Stay tuned…

  1. The details are amazing! The work is so intricate.

    • I agree. I tried to get it all in the photo, but the photo just doesn’t do it justice! In person it was so amazing and unbeleivable.

The talent and patience .. wow. It reminds me of the Tree of Life at Walt Disney World in Florida USA. That is another example of having to get much closer to see the details. Like this tusk, it is covered in carved animals.

    • I forgot all about this until I was looking at some photos yesterday. The glare from the glass made it tricky to get a good shot, but I had to… it was so cool.

An amazing piece of carving…a very patient, artistic person did this carving….

    • The detail up close and seeing the animals, the expressions, detail of the skins etc was incredible and cetainly missed until you got up close.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.

  12. Incredible! That must have taken tons of time and patience. But what an accomplishment! Nice job with getting the photo and the detail. 🙂

    • Thanks very much. Sometimes you have to take the time to look a little closer and see the detail and beauty of things 😉
I agree…. the time it must have taken to do this. Incredible!
