Looking up: Shanghai Skyline

Bastet’s Pixelventures is talking about looking UP this week. Well to continue on with my info on the Pearl Tower from my ROUND theme for the monthly Tourist in Your Own Town challenge I thought I would show you what the tower looks like from the outside. The tower is certainly interesting and quite large. Although the newer buildings are slowly dwarfing this unusual landmark it still stands out from views across the river along the Bund. Its colour and shape are truly unique.

When our visitors came a few weeks back we brought them up the tower for views of the Shanghai Skyline. Before we went inside I captured these views looking UP at this cool architectural design.

Be sure to check out Bastest to see more pics and interpretations of the weekly theme. To find out more about the Pearl Tower and see views looking down click here to read my post from earlier today.

Stay tuned….

  1. In the top picture its very like the KL tower.

  2. It is unusual looking isn’t it? Great photos!

    • Yes it is… you may be able to spot it in my posts from a few weeks back (Skyline). Even though it is no longer the tallest it is still the most unusual and unique!

  3. Love the Pear Tower!

    • It is really pretty… Especially since it is not the standard blue grey. Pink makes it really stand out.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Thie is indeed an unusual building…looks like something out of a fairy tale. Great shot and wonderful take on the Pixelventures promtpt!

    • Glad you liked it. HK is turning out to be too rainy to get any good shots. Absolutely pouring a few hours since we got here. The malls are cool, but with big brands we are just window shopping.

      • Sorry your vacation’s being dempered by the rain…hope the sun comes out soon…HongKong used to be where all the big names in clothes went to get their clothes made…like Armani etc so I’m not surprised that the big brands are still represented there.

        • Yes they certainly are. So many big names. Now they say all the rich from China come drop big money for them. Today was cloudy and sprinkled a bit. It was better for walking around. Later there was another down pour. Luckily I was inside by then 😉

          • So, it’s the rainy season in HK or something? Glad you didn’t get soaked.

            • Must be the rainy season…. Incredible down pours. Rained again today, so we headed to the airport early… Nothing else to do without getting soaked.

  5. I’ve never heard of this tower, it’s stunning!

    • It is pretty unusual and iconic here. I guess most views of China are of Beijing and the Great Wall. I don’t really recall hearing about it before I came here.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.

  6. a stunning building…very unusual

    • It is beautiful and different. The views inside are awesome too.

    • Been looking for that book store… It seems to be gone. We went to the address I found on the internet and it is now a furniture store 😦 too bad it was closed so I couldn’t ask about it. No other results turned up from Internet searches. Too bad it would have been hilarious to see.
