Fadoodle Faces #7

After a short break the faces are back 🙂 Speaking of BACK, happy #BackToTheFutureDay . Today is the day back in 1989 in Back To The Future 2 that was the “Future”… Oct. 21, 2015. How fun is that? So we can take a time machine back to the past… and see how things look in the present. The native Americans believe the faces we spot in rock are ancient spirits allowing themselves to be seen, showing themselves to the present. OK the link is a stretch, but enjoy the faces in nature.

I spotted this while hiking the trail in Lake Louise to the Plain of the Six Glaciers Tea House last month.

Spirits in the rock peeking out to be spotted.

How many faces can you spot in this image? I spotted the first obvious face, but looking at the photo carefully I have spotted about 11 faces. One is a pair that looks like they are kissing. 😉 Can you see what I see?

Check out more faces in my previous posts if you missed them. In case you missed it, Fadoodle Faces means nonsense or foolish.

Have a face photo you found in nature or everyday items? Why not write a post about it and tell us about it in the comments below so we can see what you see. Then add a ping back over here so we can all share in the fadoodle faces.

Fadoodle Faces #6

Depending on how you look at this you can see 2 different faces. One looks like a cat with whiskers, which is what drew me into it.

This is a theme I started a few weeks back called Fadoodle Faces, meaning nonsense or foolish. Check them out here:

Flash Mob for Ellen

By chance I saw a billboard advertising a flash mob for Ellen. I love watching the Ellen DeGeneres Show, so I went in search of finding more. The dance was to be held at Cowboys Casino, here in Calgary, to welcome the new Ellen slot machines that the casino just acquired. One of the employees also loves the Ellen show, so she decided to do a flash mob and post it to Ellen Tube, You Tube and on their Cowboys Facebook page. You can watch it here for Ellen Tube and here for You Tube. Can you spot me in the crowd?

Cowboys has asked us to share the video and hopefully get noticed by Ellen. Share away on twitter, Facebook and blogs. If you share don’t forget the hashtag #laughdanceplay

Fadoodle Faces #5

Continuing on with my silly theme of faces in nature here is another. This face is a little harder to spot… Can you see it?

Long Face

Long Face

I challenged you to tell me what Fadoodle means and thanks to Quiall and my Aunt Freda for their guesses. Faces in a doodle was Quiall’s guess and Faces on Food was my Aunt Freda’s definition. Drum roll please…. fadoodle means nonsense, ridiculous or foolish. I thought it was fitting since the faces in my photos are in nature or food. How silly is that? Faces are not meant to be there!

Check out my other fadoodle faces in the previous posts:

Fadoodle Faces #4

Pareidolia…. everyday things that appear to have a face. After toasting my croissant the other morning I saw something peeking back at me.

toast or ghost?

toast or ghost?

So I asked what is the meaning of Fadoodle…. but no one took the challenge to try to define it. 😦 I’ll ask again and no cheating! Put your guesses below in the comment section.

I have so many silly faces from a recent hike and more I found in the archives I have made this into a series. Check out some other faces below.

Fadoodle Faces #3

More funny faces in nature, pareidolia. As I was looking through the archives I found this little face in the woodpile. An old tree had to be cut down because it became dangerous. The interesting patterns in the wood and how the pieces were randomly placed provided a little face looking back at us. Certainly made me do a double take.

Grinning ear to ear or should I say limb to limb?

Fadoodle Faces #2

The image that inspired my idea to post the faces I found in nature (known as pareidolia —para-dole-ee-ah). Although I don’t think this one occurred naturally. 😉

Along the hiking trail from Lake Louise to Lake Agnes. A very HAPPY place.

Fadoodle Faces

While out hiking recently I spotted a little face on a log, then in a rock. Before I knew it I had close to 10 images of faces in nature. Looking for a good title I discovered I am not alone. Social media even has a hash tag #iseefaces. As I researched it more I found there is a name for it pareidolia (para-dole-ee-ah). Pareidolia is the brain’s way we perceive a sound or image of patterns. Some believe we see these images because it is how we are hard-wired. Our brain tries to make sense of what we are looking at and the most familiar is to see faces. (David Robson -bbc.com)

Then I remembered the first ‘face’ I saw while working in Shanghai. I was walking home and something caught my attention. I stopped to look closer and saw a little face looking back from me. The tangle of the branches and these white shell looking items made a little face. Can you see it?

A little face... what does it look like to you?

A little face… what does it look like to you?

And there is more. One of my most popular posts was ‘double take’ and it has a little face too.

Have you ever seen a face in nature? an object? food? Tell us about it below, or better yet provide a link to your post for us to check it out. Please link back to this post Fadoodle Faces for everyone to check out the pareidolia. Can we see what you see?

Over the next few weeks I will post more faces, pareidolia. Stay tuned…

Walk of Life

It is funny what you can find walking along and taking the time to notice. I know I shared some shots of unusual street life in Shanghai, but this was different. Walking through my compound it was a beautiful day – just perfect. Something caught my eye and I looked down…

Just off the main path I spotted something a little high and dry

Ay Ay Captain

When I looked closer it even had a little passenger. I wonder what the story behind this little origami boat is? How did it get there? What do you think?

Stay tuned….

Early Bird Catches the Photo: WP Photo Challenge

If you get up early before the world awakes the quiet stillness surrounds you. I must admit I am more of a night owl, but early mornings are nice….sparingly. Sometimes they are forced upon me and that isn’t always a treat, but getting to see this rare sunrise in Shanghai from my balcony was.

Morning splendor

Morning splendor

Most times the sun rise is blocked by the neighbouring buildings, but a few short days a year, I get to share  the morning splendor as I wake early for work.

People flock to Angkor Wat to see the sun rise behind the ancient walls and temples. The early bird here gets the best spot to capture the view.

This past summer I was up early and enjoying a quiet house before everyone was up. Looking out as the sunrise was just coming up a little sparkle caught my eye. I noticed these amazing spider webs, covered in morning dew. A few minutes later, as the sun shifted, they became invisible once more. A lucky chance of an early morning to capture those pics.
