Shadow & Light -WP Photo Challenge

Time Flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind – Nathaniel Hawthorne

Without light we would have no shadow… without shadow we would not appreciate the light. Lately I have noticed and appreciated the light and shadow contrast and captured it in a few different ways.

I enjoy taking pictures of our shadows. The long lines make our portraits interesting and fun.

Speaking of fun…. I noticed this shadow on our wall one morning. Can you guess what it is?

What the ....? What do you think it is?

What the ….? What do you think it is?

Last spring I caught this shadow on a wall and the eerie feel made a cool effect on digital. I posted this one before, but I really like it.

One of my favourite shots of the Shanghai skyline rounds out my pics of shadow and light… the colours are so vibrant and it was rare to capture such a spectacular citrus sunset.

Let shadows wash over you and bathe in the light…. CTB 😀 2015

Double Take -Extra Photo Challenge

Look what I found in the refrigerator this morning. I had to do a double take. As I rubbed my tired, bleary eyes I could swear some eyes were looking back at me!!!  Certainly not what I expected. It was a little something ‘extra’.

What is that???

What is that???

My class went to a large vegetable farm this week and we picked some carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers and eggplant. They were delicious in my salad. I hadn’t used all the green pepper and this is what is left.

This week’s photo challenge from WordPress is asking for ‘extra extra’. Something in a photo that gives it a little extra, something unexpected and only you could capture. It was quite a challenging theme, but I think this fits the bill. Could I ever find something like this again? Could I cut another pepper in just the right way? Probably not. Funny because I usually place the pepper upside-down on a plate, but for some reason this time I didn’t. I may have never noticed the cool pattern if I had.

What does it look like to you? Add your suggestions in the comments below.

Inside & Hobbies

I never had a hobby I was passionate about until I found photography. I really loved snapping pics and finding unique angles and seeing and hearing people’s reactions. I respond in the same way to pictures and I tend to go for the unusual. Imagine my bliss when scrapbooking came all the rage and I could show case my creativity in a new and fancy way. Living abroad my scrapbook tools are stored away for my eventual return. However, my photography hobby has taken off and I now have a new way to showcase my love of snapping photos. BLOGGING! These are my favourite past times and hobbies, as I am sure you may have discovered by now.  😉

This week the theme for Pixel Adventures is Hobbies and Past times. Well visit any of my posts and you can see this is how I spend my spare time… snapping photos and then writing about the adventure that goes with it.

Word Press has asked for photos inside.

I thought I would go for the silly this week with the photo themes…

These Lego sculptures were set up at our local plaza and I happened to snap a few photos. One thing I learned in China ALWAYS carry a camera ’cause you never know what you might see.

It's all fun and games until it goes too far!

Look closely… Did someone get eaten by a lion??? Oh MY! 😉 I think there is a lady inside!

OK now to be more serious and show more of my hobby side…
